Manchester United enters transfer fray for £60 million Eberechi Eze alongside Tottenham

Manchester United seeks to enhance their attacking prowess in the summer transfer window after a lackluster goal-scoring performance last season.

The Red Devils are keen to inject more creativity and scoring prowess into their squad during the upcoming summer transfer window. Their offensive output was modest last season, finding the net only 57 times in the Premier League, which was the joint-lowest among top-half teams.

Reported by The Sun, Manchester United has set their sights on Eze as a potential signing. Eze showcased his abilities with 11 goals and four assists for Crystal Palace in the 2023-24 season, earning him a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

However, Manchester United faces hurdles in acquiring Eze due to a £60m release clause in his contract, which poses challenges under Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. To finance the move, United must first offload players before making any significant investments. In contrast, Tottenham Hotspur faces no such constraints under Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.

Presently, Tottenham holds the advantage in the pursuit of Eze, benefiting from a strong rapport with Palace. Nevertheless, Manchester United is poised to enter the race, particularly with support from INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe, ensuring resources are accessible for enhancing the team’s overall quality in Manchester.
